Greetings Drummers!
Another exciting drum circle coming up tonight – remember to wear green for St. Patrick’s Day! Last week’s drum circle was an incredible experience with a record 33 souls in attendance! The drum circles have a very sacred magical quality lately that everybody comments on. A real authentic community drum circle that has matured into something so great. I am grateful to all who attend these circles for honoring us with your presence – Thank You So Much!
Remember – you don’t need to know how to drum to enjoy these circles! They are for drummers and non-drummers alike. Come and dance or sing if you don’t feel like drumming – it’s all good. It’s a lot of fun and leaves you with a very relaxed and warm fuzzy feeling by the time you reluctantly leave the hall.
Tonight’s circle is going to be a celebration of the coming Spring Equinox and St. Patrick’s Day. Show up – drum in hand or not – around 7:10pm or so and away we go – drumming together in the spirit of a community bonded.
On a spiritual note to your soul - please remember how special you are and how special everyone on this planet is. I have two special mnemonic codes I endeavor to use to guide words and actions where ever possible – TNK and GRN (Think and Grin).
T.N.K. = True, Necessary, and Kind. This code is an initial brain filter for communicating with others. Is what you are going to say or write to someone true or based on truth? If it is then is it also necessary – or useful and meaningful? If it is then lastly is it kind? Everything we say to or about each other must always be kind – Always. Hurt begets hurt and kindness begets kindness.
G.R.N. = Gratitude, Recognition, Nurturance. This code is a motivational filter for the actions you perform in interactions with others and your environment. Do you express gratitude to and for everyone and everything in your life? Gratitude is a very special frequency raising mindset that is very contagious and spreads quickly. Remember to appreciate yourself and everyone in your life that makes a positive difference for you. The only way the universe can know it is sending you the right experiences is if you express gratitude for them.
Recognition is the recognition of divinity in everyone and everything around you. Sometimes it is very hard to see the divinity in someone or in a situation that is very challenging for you – in this case you must especially recognize the divinity for it is in the form of a lesson that imparts important information or experiences for your growth. Remember – the tree trunk grows strong and thick because the wind blows and tests it’s strength. Make sure you recognize your own divinity most of all. Loving yourself is the key to unconditionally and successfully loving others.
Nurturance is about respecting, encouraging, and supporting all life in the grand effort to survive, thrive, and succeed. This stands true for all life – from the smallest tiniest plant, animal, or insect, to humans and the planet earth. How do you nurture yourself, your brother and your planet? Think about that question for awhile. Find ways to perform this kind of nurturance (pay it forward). It comes back to you a hundred fold in the form of happiness, joy, and contentment.
So ThiNK and GRiN and receive the most out of life. I’m pretty sure a major part of our job here on this planet is to love and live in the beauty and resplendence of that ecstatic celebration of life! Become in love with life!

At a special site in Mexico there is going to be a celebration based on a very old prophecy that 8000 drums will play together for the 2009 Vernal Equinox celebration. The Drumming From The Heart community drum circle is going to join the world groups of drummers that are going to be performing for this historical celebration - by drumming at Lakeside Park on Saturday March 21st 2009 @11am. There will also be drumming immediately prior to this at 10am for the Nelson Labyrinth Vernal Equinox celebration that is held annually at the Labyrinth. So come on out, drum and/or just watch and take part in two significant Nelson community events.
Need some specialized physical healing? Check out this offer of Healing Stones Massage from my very good friend Amber at Stonehaven – right here in the Kootenays:
Stone Medicine
A Shamanic approach to Stone Massage
Human Beings in good relationship with Mother Earth equals WELLNESS!
What better way to awaken to this harmonic relationship
than by experiencing this ancient stone ceremony?
We invite you to place yourself in the comforts of a peaceful atmosphere
where the warmth of healing stones are allowed to melt away
tension from the depths of your very being.
Come experience profound relaxation as you ease yourself into the blissful alpha state of consciousness.
When an individual is out of balance physically, spiritually or emotionally they are not in harmony with the natural rhythms of Mother Earth, so a reconnection is imperative to restore well being.
When the practitioner of Stone Medicine offers the Stone People to the body during ceremony they are recognizing this connection. The practitioner is not performing magic but rather they are witnessing the marvelous life-nurturing work of the Creator. Simply rubbing the body with heated stones can not affect emotional and spiritual aspects of well being. A true Shaman has learned to ‘hear’ the song of the Stone Tribe from early childhood, and through this understanding within relationship, knows how to ‘follow’ the Stone people as they coax negativity and pain from the body.
By understanding the sacred connection between the Stone Tribe and the human body a practitioner can assist the client with a deeply profound Geo-Thermal Therapy experience. In our present accelerated energetic times, our dense 3 dimensional bodies are experiencing a challenge integrating the higher vibrations now available to us. Walking with the Stones creates new spaces for these energies to enter.
2 hour session $80.00

HAND DRUMMING lessons on the web:
Lesson 1 - Another great page by Rhythmweb! Introductory to frame drums with history and explanation of different types. Bongos, pandeiro, djembe drums, etc. A great world drumming site.
Lesson 2 - History, examples, and resources for playing the Bongos. More bongo drum lessons coming.
Lesson 3 - A music site containing just about everything there is to know about playing Djembe drums. -Awesome!
Basic details for participating in a Drumming From The Heart drum circle:
1. The drop in price is $7 per drum circle but you can also buy “drum dollars” which cost $50 for 10 drum dollars – one drum dollar = one drum circle (save $2/circle).
2. Drumming From The Heart drum circle is on every Tuesday night at the North Shore Hall in Nelson from 7:15pm to 8:45pm.
3. The North Shore Hall is located off of Johnston road across the orange bridge from Nelson at 675 Whitmore Road – second right off Johnston. It’s in a big wood and brick old church/hall – you can’t miss it – big parking lot.
4. I have spare drums and others bring spare drums and percussion also that you are free to use.
5. The circle is already composed of mostly beginners. We follow a very simple easy format that anyone can play with – it’s all good and there is no “wrong”. You have to experience it to see what I mean – absolutely no skills required – except possibly good listening skills.
In the Spirit of Love and Peace - See you in the circle…
Namaste

WHAT IS A DRUM CIRCLE?
A DRUM CIRCLE IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER TO CREATE IN THE MOMENT MUSIC USING HAND DRUMS AND PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS. A DRUM CIRCLE IS NOT A PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE PERFORMING A PREPARED PIECE OF MUSIC, OR A DRUMMING CLASS LED BY A TEACHER, NOR ANY GROUP RE-CREATING MUSIC IT HAS PLAYED BEFORE. DRUM CIRCLES ARE A FORM OF RECREATIONAL MUSIC MAKING WHICH MEANS THAT THE FOCUS IS NOT ON PERFORMANCE BUT RATHER ON PERSONAL OR GROUP DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS OR JUST PLAIN FUN.
May your life be filled with Eternal Bliss and Ecstatic Joy!
Thank You!
