Hail Drummers,
I want to remind everyone that there are exactly 6 Tuesday drum circle sessions left before we break for summer. The last drum circle will be on June 29th where we will drum and celebrate with a finger food potluck - as is our tradition. I would sincerely like to thank all who have attended Drumming From The Heart drum circles this year - This is your circle and you have made it a very special one indeed. I am grateful for you.
I have a very special announcement to make!
On June 20 & 21 - there is a first time running of The Summer Solstice Long Drum event taking place on Crystal Mountain here in Nelson. This is a very special ceremony where we honour and give thanks to Mother Earth by keeping the drums going all night and morning for 10 straight hours! We are also very honoured and blessed to have Duncan and Rosalyn Grady conduct opening and closing blessings for the long drum ceremony.
This is a great opportunity to really truly experience the deep alpha inducing effects of group trance drumming (and dancing) for an extended period of time. The non-stop drum rhythms performed all night long will create a very powerful and entraining deep alpha brain wave pattern in the group mind to the benefit and delight of all present. It will definitely be an experience to remember.
This is also how many of the world's indigenous peoples have celebrated earth and her cycles for thousands of years. By honouring and giving thanks to the Mother. A sacred ceremony like this forms a primal connection between us and the earth - thereby enabling the much needed healing of Mother Earth and ourselves through her spiritual connection to us.
It is incumbent upon us to honour and celebrate our spiritual divinity - it is time to remember who we really are. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Let us drum, be grateful, and remember...
Here is the official announcement from our own Jonathan Taylor - organizer of the event:
(Please remember to RSVP Jonathan via phone/email at Jetnelson2009@gmail.com (250.354.7511) by Friday May 11th if you will be attending)

Drummers, Singers, Dancers, please join us for the Summer Solstice Long Drum to honor our Mother Earth and her Sacred Waters
At this time in our world, the Earth, our Mother, and Her sacred blood, water, are in great distress. We offer our prayers as expressed through music, song and dance to right relationship.
In service to right relation, in this ceremony the Mother Beat will be continuously held and sustained throughout the night by drummers in service to the whole. Singers and Dancers, please join whenever. and where ever your heart moves you. The groove will occasionally transform as the composition of the drumming group changes and evolves through the night.
We are doing this to mark the season, participate in world cycles, offer our effort to the benefit of all beings, and collectively invoke spirit and clarity for the healing of our relationship with Pachamama. A Great Urgency - Chief Arvol Looking Horse
To All World Religious and Spiritual Leaders
My Relatives,
Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders. I
ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit
of your Nations in prayer.
We, from the heart of Turtle Island , have a great message for the World; we
are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred color,
which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things. As
I am sending this message to you, many Animal Nations are being threatened,
those that swim, those that crawl, those that fly, and the plant Nations,
eventually all will be affect from the oil disaster in the Gulf.
The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit. The
catastrophe that has happened with the oil spill which looks like the
bleeding of Grandmother Earth, is made by human mistakes, mistakes that we
cannot afford to continue to make.
I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in prayer with
the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these serious issues will
continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our Ancestors have warned us of
in their Prophecies.
I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united prayers
for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue. I believe we as
Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our thoughts and prayers to
allow the healing of the many wounds that have been inflicted on the Earth.
As we honor the Cycle of Life, let us call for Prayer circles globally to
assist in healing Grandmother Earth (our Unc I Maka).
We ask for prayers that the oil spill, this bleeding, will stop. That the
winds stay calm to assist in the work. Pray for the people to be guided in
repairing this mistake, and that we may also seek to live in harmony, as we
make the choice to change the destructive path we are on.
As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected. And that
what we create can have lasting effects on all life.
So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer. Along
with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember June 21st, World
Peace and Prayer Day/Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether it is a natural
site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your own sacred space, let us
make a prayer for all life, for good decision making by our Nations, for our
children's future and well-being, and the generations to come.

There is also another very special event taking place in June that you may be interested in attending:
Andean Despacho Ceremony - 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday June 12th
Crystal Mountain, Svoboda Road, Nelson BC
We're very happy to announce that René Franco Salas, our friend and compadre from the village of Pisac in the Andes - Peru, will be returning to Nelson in June. He will once again be accompanied by his two daughters, Urpi Gabriela (18) and Urpi Dianita (11).
René will be offering a traditional Andean "Despacho" ceremony on Crystal Mountain on Saturday, June 12th. It will be held outside on the land near the sweat lodge. There will be an opportunity to visit with Rene and his daughters after the ceremony - they speak Spanish, Quechua and a little English.
A despacho is an Andean ceremony of making offerings to the mountains (apus), Mother Earth (Pachamama), and in the spirit of reciprocity, reverence, and thanksgiving. This is an act of love and a reminder of the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places. At the deepest level, it is an opportunity to enter into the essential unity of all things, the living energy of the universe.
The despacho is a gift - a giving back of what we receive every day in our lives. Through the despacho ceremony we seek to bridge the ordinary and non-ordinary realms; to establish new patterns of relationship and possibility. The despacho places us in right relationship, right ayni, with Pachamama.
Please car pool as much as possible at the bottom of Svoboda Road, as there is limited parking on Crystal Mountain. There will be someone helping to organize this in the parking area by the pathway along the old Burlington Northern Railroad (above Mary Hall - 10th St. and Elwyn). Also there will be someone directing cars up near the sweat lodge and Mountain Waters, so we make the best use of the space here.
We would like to have a sense of how many people will come, so if you want to attend please call (250-352-0818) or write listenbreatheletgo@gmail.com There is no fee for the ceremony; we will be collecting donations for Rene and his family. Any food offerings for sharing after the ceremony are welcome.
Enjoy the day and see you soon in The Circle!
Namaste,
Kim
Basic details for participating in a Drumming From The Heart drum circle:
1. The drop in price is $7 per drum circle but you can also buy “drum dollars” which cost $50 for 10 drum dollars – one drum dollar = one drum circle (save $2/circle).
2. Drumming From The Heart drum circle is on every Tuesday night at the North Shore Hall in Nelson from 7:15pm to 8:45pm.
3. The North Shore Hall is located off of Johnston road across the orange bridge from Nelson at 675 Whitmore Road – second right off Johnston. It’s in a big wood and brick old church/hall – you can’t miss it – big parking lot.
4. I have spare drums and others bring spare drums and percussion also that you are free to use.
5. The circle is already composed of mostly beginners. We follow a very simple easy format that anyone can play with – it’s all good and there is no “wrong”.

WHAT IS A DRUM CIRCLE?
A DRUM CIRCLE IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER TO CREATE IN THE MOMENT MUSIC USING HAND DRUMS AND PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS. A DRUM CIRCLE IS NOT A PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE PERFORMING A PREPARED PIECE OF MUSIC, OR A DRUMMING CLASS LED BY A TEACHER, NOR ANY GROUP RE-CREATING MUSIC IT HAS PLAYED BEFORE. DRUM CIRCLES ARE A FORM OF RECREATIONAL MUSIC MAKING WHICH MEANS THAT THE FOCUS IS NOT ON PERFORMANCE BUT RATHER ON PERSONAL OR GROUP DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS OR JUST PLAIN FUN.
May your life be filled with Eternal Bliss and Ecstatic Joy!
Thank You!
